Top 30 Brazilian companies in the Bovespa index 2019

The largest Brazilian companies have a strong impact on the country’s economy, Latin America and beyond. The thirty largest companies listed on the Brazilian stock exchange on the B3 Stock Exchange are presented here with details about their activities, logos and useful information.

In Brazil, large companies are generally incorporated as Sociedade Anônima (abbreviated as SA), to be listed on the Brazilian Stock Exchange, Brasil Bolsa Balcão – B3. They have to comply with the rules of the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission, but then they can raise capital from investors who buy their shares on the B3 stock exchange.

The Bovespa index

To facilitate the evaluation of movements in the stock market and the Brazilian economy, the shares of about 60 of the most traded Brazilian companies, which includes the largest corporations in the country. They are aggregated in the Bovespa Index, better known as Ibovespa (Bovespa Index), which is considered the benchmark stock index of Brazil. Regrouping the companies that were most traded on the B3 stock exchange in the last 12 months, the companies that are included in Ibovespa represent 70% of the entire value of the shares traded in Brazil.
